The first shop that I talked to quoted me these numbers:
Transmission complete teardown and rebuild - $2000
Parts Upgrade - $795
Yank 3200 - $895

Grand Total - $3690 DAYUM!!


The next shop (Local Chevy Dealership)quoted me:

Transmission complete teardown and rebuild - $800
Parts Upgrade - $400

Grand Total w/o convertor - $1200

What do you guys think? I thought $3690 was insane
Any suggestions where to go now.
I need help.

 

Damn dealerships are never cheaper, But the dealership price is pretty close to what i would think a rebuild would be.

 

Oh the guy that quoted $3690 said that this would be the strongest the trans. could be built and that nothing would be overlooked.

 

$3,690 is insane. I know of a guy who will rebuilt a 4L60E parts included for $950. From what I hear he does a very good job.

Depending on what you get the 3600 may not be too bad of a deal honestly. The question is if you'll need everything thats included in that rebuild. Having everything cryo treated and all kinds of other stuff that is normally not upgraded can run a lot more money. But close to 4000 is too much either way. I sent a friend to get his trans fixed up by someone I know and it ran him a little over 3g's for his f-body. But he has never had another problem from it as I know and it was built with the best of everything.

 

That is a good point BradWlv. The place that gave me the estimate has been very highly recommended by several people. But I am still shopping around.

 

IMO i think that the 4l60 rebuild is a waist why spend thousands of dollars to build a trans that only holds a max of 600 rwhp when the 4l80 almost holds that stock rebuilt its good to 1200hp

 

You have a good point, but I wont every be near the 600 mark.

 

you rip it out once you can do it again, it's really the weight of our trucks that kill the 4l60e. all that weight they should really just put in the 4l80e from the factory but this is gm and their morons.
