LSD not to bad
Sweet to hear about the posi. You shouldnt of ran into many problems with just a LSD swap, its when you start putting in new gears that all the troubles with back lash and preloads comes in to play. Stop waiting around and go leave two fat black ones for the nieghbors.

It wasn't hard..... but I don't want to do it again in the next week -- so I'll let it break in some.
With new gears it would just be a matter of shimming and checking. Add another 3 hours (TOPS) to it, and you have your gear swap. Peice of cake.
Maybe I should do mine a few more times and start charging 120 bucks for it.

You need to put 2 shots of the GM juice in it when it's new.

I am using 3 ounces of GM quality or better friction modifier per quart.
So, since I used the same ring and pinion, I don't need to allow that forever long period? I've got about 50 miles on it so far, making about 9 trips. Am I good to go?

If you didn't change the ring and pinion you don't have to break anything in. Even with a new ring and pinion you'll be fine to just go. If you did it right it won't break. I worked at a shop for 4 years rebuilding differentials and never had a single job come back and none of those customers ever observed a break in period.

you might not need too but
Id still let it break in some to be safe
where the ring and pinion contact
will still be different even using the same gears
and needs to wear in
does auburn warrant gears too?
I ran mine a few hundred, pulled the pan, checked everything out
and replaced the fluid before I started beating on it

I didnt know that the Eaton and Auburn had different break-ins! I do know that one of the most important things is to give it some juice after 500 or 1000 miles(whatever it is)!

i thought only gears you have to break in, not posi.
or is it changing the gear oil after 1000 miles? i forget
how do you like that 3000 stall with the 3.42 gears? posi will make it even more awesome
