Should I just get autotap alone, or do i need to get efilive? I imagine I'll end up with edit sometime soon anyways... what should i get? and where can i find a really cheap laptop?

I think the only difference between those two is that the efi live you can actually make temperary changes for a certain amount of time. For example a 1/4 mile run. From what I have seen both are loging tools.

They are both logging tools, yes. ATAP is universal so that it can work for any vehicle, GM, Ford, Dodge, etc. It's also extremely slow in updating when you have a lot of counters. EFILive used to be advertised for LS1's only. They said it wouldn't work in our trucks. I downloaded it off their website and it worked fine. EFILive is tons better than ATAP when it comes to logging info. It updates about 8-10 times to one update ATAP makes using the most counters each will do.
Plain and simple, I'd go for EFILive. It updates MUCH quicker giving you better details about whats going on.

Between the two, if i post up something on here will most of yall (using atap) understand it? or is everything in a different code etc? Does it justify the added expense for being faster?
I don't want efilive if I can't get help from it....
But if the logs are nearly the same i might go with it.
BTW thanks for the replies!

You export your logs to a csv file (comma delemited file) that you can look at and make since of all of it.
Your EFILive file will just have a whole lot more info in it than the ATAP file will, that will be about the only difference in it after you export it to a CSV file.

Thanks guys. I'm ordering EFI Live in a couple days
...you need the one with the "bi-directional" controls to be able to temporarily change things in your truck right?

chingon i'd imagine so.... unidirectional means one way..... just data coming to you..... bi means both ways.... you send and recieve....
however if you get non bidirectional you should get ls1edit to make 'em perminate....
