Default ASP Pulley

Hey guys, I finally got the puller and socket and stuff and am going to attempt the install tomorrow and I was wondering about how and where to lube the pulley. I have motor oil, white lithium grease, chassis grease, and wheel bearing grease. Which one should I use and where all do I put it. Do I lube the part where the bolt head holds the pulley down or just where the pulley slides into the crank? Also will the crankshaft turn if the transmission is in park? Thanks <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Syphon- I bought it from Jim, AKA Y2K Silverado.

Jim Yes the pulley is finally on my truck! I went and bought a shorter belt and I didn't do the alt pulley because I thought I would lose voltage, but I can't tell any difference at all! I might install it if redaddiction doesn't care. I told him I would trade it for a TB spacer a couple months ago. I bought a 10 dollar 3 jaw puller at Slowreillys and it broke without the pulley even budging, so I went and borrowed a better one from another shop in town and the pulley came right off. The bolt isn't long enough to pull the pulley all the way off, so I got a socket just big enough to stick in the crank and put an extender on it and stuck it in the hole and pulled the pulley the rest of the way out. I had to jam a lug wrench in to keep the engine from turning. When installing the ASP pulley, I used a strap wrench because there is no where to jam the lug wrench in. I put the bolt in tight as I could, then removed it and put a new bolt in as tight as I could with a 2 foot long ratchet. The hardest part was getting the AC belt on. Man it was a tight fit. Thanks again Y2k and all you homies waiting on back order, it will be worth the wait when you get them.

Werd. Now how do you get the alternator pulley off? Do I need a special puller, or does it just fall off when you remove the nut?

has anyone done the pulley swap with an impact wrench (I am talking about the install)? With an impact wrench is it quick enought so you don't have to keep the engine from turning over? How did you other guys keep the engine from turning over during the install? I am considering doing the swap, but dont ant to mess anything up. <img border="0" alt="[USA]" title="" src="graemlins/patriot.gif" />

Hey dude, it is easy. Just take the plastic skid plate off and wedge the curved end of a tire iron into the crank pulley and the straight end into the cross member right under there and it will hold the pulley. With the ASP pulley there is nowhere to jam the tire iron in, but it was small enough the wrap a strap wrench around to hold it still. It was easy, just be sure to get a good and big 3 jaw puller because the 10 dollar ones won't cut it.
