Default ASM headers

hey guys my mom asked what i wanted for xmas the other day and ive been thinking about it pretty hard and i wanna go with some headers . my warrenty is very important to me right now untill i can pay the truck off here shortly . so i need to know if these will void it . no maybe or depends . if it comes down to me blowing my motor are they gonna say its because these or blame anything on them . or void it because i voided emissions or anything . they said i cant touch the stock cats or there placement , but i heard u just cut the piping from the sock manifold to the cats but you dont move them . thanks for any help guys

Stock cats are kept intact....factory y-pipe is cut and flanges are welded directly to the upstream end of the cats. Not sure about the warranty issues.

The warranty issue will basically come down to the dealership...there's kind of a grey area there. Theoretically, if the component didn't cause the failure, it shouldn't void the warranty, but realistically, dealership technicians aren't fond of messing with aftermarket components. You might want to talk to your local dealer and ask. If you have a good relationship with the dealer you may be OK.

Bud's right - the best way to ensure you will have no problems is to go into your dealer now and tell them what you're thinking of doing, and asking their opinion on the matter. If you have 3 dealerships close to you, then go to all three and ask. If only one of them says 'No problem', then you know who you're going to after you get the headers on.

ok , but besides what the dealer thinks they just do the work , gm in general is thed one who pays them for doing the work . so what im asking is do they void it . not by what a dealership says . because one guy there tryed saying my exhuast will void it because it heats the cats up to much and can blow the motor . i todl him look buddy just cuz im 18 dont mean im dumb . then he had a wise crack and i told him they need to transfer him from tech to window sticker scraper .

im just wondering . with the sema thing , and if i had to bring it to corprate who would win

They would win if it was brought to corporate. The dealership has the decision of whether or not to report the existance of aftermarket equipment on the vehicle in question. If oyu have a good relationship with the dealership then you dont have to worry about it. CrewCabOnDubz had warranty work done with lts on his truck.

I had a dealer do warranty work on my Tahoe with a Radix ,longtube headers and a stall. It helps to know the service writer. All GM knows is what the dealer tells them and the servce depatment is getting paid by GM for the work.

Keep your stock manifolds and if something goes bad wrong with something get a stock y-pie and put the maifolds on and take it in.
