The stethoscope method works great. Or you could try to find someone near you with a smoke machine and test it on the truck that way.

if a hair like crack fine line contracts and expands doubt a smoke will present it self.

when pulling off the first time after say 10k miles no signs fo exhaust gas leakage or seepage

appreciate all the idears tossed.thanks

I have the TSP stainless on mine and hear all kinds of exhaust noise in the cabin from it. I kind of like it though.

I have kooks on my g8. I can't hear them in the car. But standing outside, the tick is noticeable. Prob a little less then the pacesetters on my silverado.

If its all slip fit, did you wrap the joints with tin foil?

I wouldn't wrap them. Always cause rust or the coating to flake on them.

Also, I've never seen an aftermarket gasket out perform oem ones.

Is it possibly that this noise is louder than you are used to because of the larger piping and thinner stainless material? The tick I got from my ARH was slightly more than others I have heard on these trucks.

It's so hard to tell if there is an issue through the computer like this... everyone has a different level of what they find intrusive. I know when I first put my headers on i swore up and down there was a leak and I was in the same boat... it wasnt my first header install. I took a couple things off and used high temp RTV around the connections and it may have helped a little but they still have a decent tick to them.

the guy that bought my truck sold it because this noise drove him nuts. it's a typical header noise.

Is it normal to hear the typical LS tick more pronounced at idle and rev?

Why not throw some dyno-mat on the inside firewall and see if the sound improves?
