those valves are way too big for your 5.3

I've read way too many so-so things about Patriot so I stayed away from them. I went with PRC 317s myself.

What I would do personally is buy the PRC stage 2.5 5.3s from TSP and have them milled to 59cc that will bring your compression up on your 5.3. Now, in the longrun if you plan a 6.0 swap, the PRC 5.3's would work beautifully with the LQ4 (but not LQ9 which is what I have and really limited my head options because the starting compression is already pretty high). Now granted, to get the same compression as you have now with your 5.3, when you swap the heads over to the 6.0 the compression will be about 11:1. You will have to run 93 all the time. Hopefully that isn't a problem.

The beauty of the PRC 5.3s over the LS6/317 heads is the fact that the 5.3s flow the same as LS6 heads but they have a smaller runner. This means higher air velocities and better throttle response. This is the exact principle that makes the AFR 205cc heads so sought after.

hope that helps

that does help. are these the heads you are talking about? and what is the combustion chamber size on them? all i see is "Smaller Combustion Chambers For 10.75:1 Compression"

http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=84

i have no problem running 93 since i already do all of the time (because of timing in the tune)

I called yesterday and they are 62cc, he said they can mill them done to 59cc, but i have seen some 57cc and 58cc ones floating around on the boards so they can be milled down further...

yeah, but that reduces your ptv clearance which can be an issue if you want to go with a bigger cam in the future. I would always recommend keeping milling to a minimum

I think the PTV issues would really only affect .6XX lift cams... I know V8 and others have milled thier 862/706 heads .040 and they run pretty big cams and they do not have PTV issues...

you have to check ptv anyways, it's dependent on more than just lift
