anyone ever try a different water pump than stock...what works and why the swap?

I'm thinking they won't work with the ProCharger bracket...but I could be wrong.

So how long did the original OEM unit take the abuse before it gave up the ghost? Sometimes OEM and aftermarket quality are near equal but I'm wondering if the OEM pump with a tack weld would be stronger.

I guess you could also try to key it the same way you would a balancer.

EDIT: I see Edelbrock offers a water pump with a bolt on pulley. Part # is 8896(pulley sold separately)

I think the flexing of the ProCharger bracket is what caused it the first few times. I think we solved a lot of that with the ribs welded across the front of the bracket. This last time was just a big f**k-up that found the weakest link...which just happened to be the WP pulley...oh...and the left front alt bracket mounting tab...again!
