The lifters on the cylinders that deactivate are like electromagnets, they are weak and can collapse

I decided to go ahead and swap to LS7 lifters due to the size of the camshaft going into it 23x/23x, .600 lift, 112 lsa...not worth risking any issues with the stock questionable lifters with a decent sized cam.

Swapped the truck to 4.11 gears at owners request..

I yanked the heads and dropped them off at machine shop to get milled for some compression since they are off for the lifters.

I did leave the factory intake valley cover with the solenoid stuff under it. I have it disabled in the computer so it wont be an issue.

Waiting on parts (head gaskets, head bolts, ls7 lifters etc) supposed to be here this afternoon.

I am going to make a cam upgrade in my 07 nnbs sierra 5.3 I have the 243 heads aluminum block, The cam i am going to install is 216/220 .560 .560 lift 114lsa I have a new set of gm 580 lift springs seals and locks, upgrade to better 7.4 pushrods. But what about the stock lifters?..are they alright with this cam or do i need to get a better set. i seem were someone said that the lifter in the DOD motors are weak and will collapse but with .560 lift is the stock ones alright?

Just finished my cam swap to a 216/220 .560 .560 lift 114lsa and it couldnt have went any better. Love the sound if it anyway... i had to use a LS2 cam sprocket GM part number#12586481 becuase the nnbs 5.3 use a single cam bolt setup. Will post pictures and sound clip soon.
