Default Anyone consider getting a fuel Cell yet ?

I was just thinking about the loaction of the Fuel tank in ot trucks
with it on one side it makes no sense at all
do you think you could mount and make up a new tank to fit where the spare tires once lived
It would be loads better for weight transfer
or am i Barking up the wrong tree
I'm sure there might be some rules against doing it ?
rather do that then put it in the back of the bed

I am getting one built for mine in that exact location. I rebuilt the crossmembers and a buddy of mine is building it out of aluminum.

Theres a place in Ohio that custom makes stainless fuel tanks to your needs with the necessary baffles inside and to fith stock sending unit etc.. You could have it appear to be a fuel cell but still use the sending unit.
I dug out the catalog tommorow.

just buy a Circle Track 22 gallon fuel cell from Jegs or Summit and put it in the back of the bed and run the lines to it.

IDK...It's still inside the framerails so it should be safe from a rear impact, I would think it would be cheaper and easier to install a fuel cell in the bed and hide it under a toneau or hard cover....it may not look stock but how many of our trucks REALLY look stock ???
