Question

Any particular reason why?? Why not build up a V-8?? Are gas prices hurting you that bad? Just curious. I know the 4.3L weighs a little less than the V8's, but not all that much. For the power advantage, the V-8's have a better advantage. Will be cheaper to mod a 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0L engine to get the power you will not get out of the V6. Not knocking your idea, but it just doesn't seem logical. Not for a truck at least.

Ask some of the syclone guys. They get really expensive when you push them.

A friend of mine has a sonoma he started modding the 4.3 in before he bought his LT1. I remember him saying parts for it such as cams and heads were actually more than V8 componets. I'm assuming this is because of the niche market the sixers fall into.

I've got alot of mods done to my 4.3. People tell me I should put a V8 in my ZR2. But alot of guys do that, it's not even impressive to see a 8 in a S10. I have the same reason as hot rod magazine had, it's neat, not many people build V6's. And actually my 4.3 will out run my friends 99 5.3 in his 4wd Sierra. He has intake, exhaust and headers. I have every bolt on, 4.10 gears and 1.6 full roller rocker arms. Along with my truck being a ZR2 which weighs 4000 lbs, 500 more than a reg 4x4 S10.

If you want performance check out www.machperformance.com They reproduce the Turbochargers that scylones and typhoons used. Along with making a intercooler supercharger for the 4.3. They have 1/4 times listed and most of the S10's are in the 13's, if not 12's....thats just with the forced induction. Add gears, cam etc and your perfomance will obviously increase more. As far as heads and intake, we're basically SOL.

Brodix makes little brodies for 4.3's, but get ready to wait for them. (usually about 6 months) Vortecs, when worked and not shrouded, will be adequate for most applications.
