got another week till the 1/4 mile track opens and i am looking for more weight reduction items.
i got the back bumper, hitch, spare, jack, back seat, pasenger seat, sway bar, tow hooks, tail gate, spare winch.
i have a factory bed liner, it's got a chevy emblem on it anyways. anyone have a estimate on what it weighs. any other ideas on stuff to pull? i am going for a glory run so the parts will probably go right back on when i am done.

Not sure what it weighs but it's not light. I yanked mine out the day my truck was delivered. At 500 miles on the odometer it had already scuffed the paint inside the bed.

Hey parish8, a quick question! I know you want a fast truck but yanking a whole bunch of stuff off your truck to get a quicker time at the track isn't a true measure of how fast your truck is. I run my truck in full street trim, I only let the gas get real low to help with weight. I could drop several hundred pounds to get a faster time at the track but to me that's not a true measurement for the street. I want to know how much faster my truck is with the mods I've added vs just simply dropping weight. I'm not trying to flame you or rag on you at all, that's not my intension. I just don't understand what's with all the weight droppage all of a sudden.

Posting up an 11 second time slip is better than a 12 second slip any day. Having a chance at a #1 spot on the board is worth the effort.
Why do you race at a track anyway? A race prepped track isn't a true measure of how your truck will hook up on the street.

i do drive around most of the time without this stuff. i haven't had a back seat for awhile, always leave the spare and jack at home when i go street racing. haven't had a bumper for a few weeks. i have even been running 30% xylene for the last few weeks.
prety sure i am going to pull that bed liner, it is the last easy heavy thing i see on the truck. i will get a measurement if i can get it on the scale.

Parish, I think you're squeezing an orange that has just about ran dry. If you're really going all out...how about removing the side mirrors and windshield wipers to reduce drag? And make sure to give it the "racers wax" before running. <img border="0" alt="[shoot]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />
