I took the truck to the track last night hoping to beat my 12.88 pass and knew after the first pass it wasn't going to happen. Listen to the trans
Needless to say I didn't break my previous record, the only thing I did break was the transfer case.
You'll see three different runs. Here are the specs and a rundown on each pass:
2003 Cadillac Escalade - Internally 100% Stock
Weight - 6,055 lbs. with 1/2 tank of gas
Mods:
Turbo Kit by Detroit Speedworks
Garrett GT-40/67 Turbo w/Intercooler
Open Downpipe
Lowered 3" Front, 4" Rear (still has factory air ride)
24x10" GFG Type GF-1 Wheels
Baer Eradispeed 14" Brakes
Kenwood Excelon and Kicker Audio Components w/(5) 6.5" Screens
Tuned by Livernois Motorsports
Run 1: Launch at 3 lbs., make 11.5 lbs... trans slips
Run 2: Launch at 5 lbs., make 11.5 lbs., smoke all 4 tires... trans slips and I let off
Run 3: Launch at 5 lbs., make 13.5 lbs, trans slips again.... it's going for sure!
Run 4: Staging, spooling up to approx 5.5-6 lbs., bulbs start to drop, transfer case explodes, parts fall out....
I then had a guy from a local message board offer to tow the truck on his trailer, so we get a big group to push it on and tow it home.
Time for a good trans build and a new transfer case and we'll have to come out and try again

That last one sounded pretty wicked!
I feel ya on the tranny thing. I got a lil sick the last time out in the Z71 and it slipped abit off the line and I saw my 60' dropped from 1.80 to 1.85 then when it tried to shift form 2nd to 3rd it just started banging off the rev limiter and just as I was about to lift it slid into gear.
That was the 110mph run LOL
What are the plans for the T-Case? Do they make stronger parts for it or you just gonna get the stock peices and have em cryo treated?

I think the last one would have been a great pass if that didn't happen. I tested in the pit before going up there to see where the boost was and I also let the air down from 50psi to 28psi and it seemed to leave straighter and harder.....
We picked up another stock t-case today... not sure what we're going to do to it yet. I'm going to research it a bit tomorrow and see if anyone makes beefier parts for it.

If they don't there is a place here in Sacrmanto that does Cryo tyreatment. It's not too expensive for small parts.

You have no way of lowering the front end easily on race days do you? I only ask because us 4WD guys can crank the torsion bars down a bit and the difference in launch is night and day. It puts less stress on the suspension and driveline.

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely look into that and it does look pretty reasonably priced!
I'm not sure if you could do anything to lower the front anymore, it has a 3" front drop, 4" rear drop (which did help a lot!) but I think if you tried to crank it down with something the air ride may try to compensate and try to raise it

Look at it this way...
The transfer case was the only thing holding you back from putting a 4L80-E in there. The full-time AWD case will always be a weakness. I'm a little bit surprised to see it blow before the rear end, but I guess sitting still there wasn't any weight transfer to unload the front and send all the torque to the rear. You might want to look into getting a 4WD case and a 4L80-E out of an HD truck to put in there.
The 4L65-E isn't much better than a 4L60-E. It just isn't worth spending a penny on trying to improve the parts in what's fundamentally a weak design.

I don't think there is any difference between the auto track and say a transfercase behind a 4l80e besides the auto tracks clutch assy.
What parts broke? Part of the planetary(sp)They don't look like anything I've seen in my T-case. So mabe there is a difference I don't know. any of these look like yours?

If I blew the tcase, I don't know if I'd put the same one back. Chuck would probably want to strangle me after all the work he did to get my 65 to hold the power, but I'd be real tempted to go to an 80 or a manual with a 4x4.
