Default another ? for the machanical challanged mind

Getting ready to put in new rockers and springs, not doing it myself. found out that there is quite abit of labor invalved, would it be easier if I had him just pull the heads off and do it that way, and them put a thicker head gasket on to lower my compression a little bit and than I can run a little more boost. Or am I way off.

Pulling the heads would be way more labor intensive than just R&R the springs.

rockers are very easy to do i put some crower roller rockers last year on my durango i seem to remember all you had to do is turn crank by hand till the intake and exhust are at the top ( both valves closed)then just take the slack out the pushrods and lock the locking bolt

there is a very easy to follow install instructions on the crower website i think it should be the same for chevys

+1 to Snakeoiler's comments. When pulling the heads, you have to take the whole front of the engine apart, remove the intake and exhaust manifolds, and basically do everything but remove the valvesprings from the heads themselves. Big time PITA.

I replaced the rockers and springs in my Z28, and it's not that difficult, just a little time consuming and tedious. This was actually the first time that I had done anything with engine internals, and it wasn't too bad at all. The hardest part was physically reaching the back cylinders, but that's because F-bodies had half of the motor up under the cowl, a truck would be alot easier. The only part that is a little tricky is setting the valves to zero lash, but if you get rockers with poly-locks (like comp cam pro-magnums) even that is pretty straightforward.

If you are at all mechanically inclined, or can get some help from someone who is, doing valvesprings is a good learning experience. It was for me anyway. Hope this helps.

Yep I did my own rockers and springs too, never done anything like it before and it turned out fine. Go for it!
