Another Exhaust Question.......
#1
I know another exhaust question.......
I want the truck to sound like a mild small block, kinda deep and not raspy and popping all the time like all the hill billy trucks around here with dual 1" pipes. Plus everyone around here as the dual out with slash cut chrome tips......just want something different.
I was thinking about cutting it off just after the cats, running a DynoMax X pipe section then going into 2 mufflers with dumps, or going out the side right ahead of the rear wheels.
I had a couple different thoughts and wanted to see what you guys think.
Exits
1. was going with the side exit and using my stock Z28 tips side by side for a NASCAR looking exit on the passenger side.
2. was just going with dumps before the axle.
Mufflers
1. Dual FlowMaster 1 chambers
2. DynoMax Race Magum (UltraFlow welded)
3. Dual FlowMaster 40's
4. MagnaFlow
I also heard someone talking about using a single Muffler?
Currently I have a 3.5" single in and out Top Ten Shoot Out FlowMaster on my blown Z and its pretty out but it sounds like a tin can inside the car and I really don't want that for my daily driver but I want it to be pretty loud on the outside and have a nice deep tone to it.....I would even like to have somewhat of a louder tone at idle.
I really don't want to take off the emissions or get headers just yet, as the Z is my toy to play with, I just want the truck running a little better and I don't know where I'm going after school is out so I don't want to have to worry about emissions on the truck
What do you guys think????

i have true duals with flowmaster 40s on a 2002 4.8L. the truck is a little louder than stock at idle but get pretty loud once i'm on the gas. mine is really no louder than my friends single in/dual out cat-back. it definately has a different tone though.
i just dumped mine after mufflers to keep the exterior cleaner. however i think the stock Z28 tips idea you had might look good too.
