Default All motor or boost discussion

Originally I was going to build an all motor 400hp (to the wheels) 5.3 but I started looking at vortec supercharger kits and now im wondering if I should go that route instead...any input?

I debate this for years. Vortec blowers are not that common around here. Alot of Maggies, or some prochargers are the weapons of choice. MY dad had a bortec, and it was jsut that, boring. WAsnt impressive at all. Your better off in the Maggie route for FI

I decided to jsut got a 6.0L swap, motors are plentiful, and you spend 2-3 grand on the motor and it will have atleast 400rwhp, and be fairly reliable at that. Be alot cheaper then doing FI.

REally depends on what you want. I roll with a muscle car and rat rod crew, and a huge choppy cam is what I like

There are not many 5.3s anywhere close to 400rwhp so my vote is boost. Just personal preference but I would do a turbo. I chose a turbo because of prior experience with belt slip on a powerdyne blower and cause I like the sound.

If you have the money do a good turbo setup.

Im going FI when I come back from the middle east. The question really is SC, Turbo, or pro charger.

I plan on going with a lq4 that can handle the boost.

I do see more 6.0 builds but my main reasons for wanting a 5.3 is the weight and the rpm capability, I love chopy cams and high rpm v8's. I been searching for info trying to compare it to the 5.3 but I havn't been so lucky I'm addicted to boost too lol last motor was a turbo 4 banger and I loved it.

Ohhh boy...

There's no weight difference between the two, none at all. Nor is there any noticeable difference in RPM capability between a 5.3L and a 6.0L. Not sure where you got that info from but you've been led wrong.

Secondly, getting 400 rwhp out of a 5.3L N/A is gonna cost you alot of money and if you did get past 400rwhp you wouldn't have a very streetable set-up. Firgure out how much power you want first, then chose the motor that will get you there.

Outside of ls1 and ls6 I don't know gen3/4 engines all that well so I'm trying to learn all I can before I start in on this swap.
