Could a custom header builder wrap the pipe around the steering shaft or would that be unfeasable?

A.S.&M. said they would build me a set for 850.00 with the 3" collector coated.I was just tryin to find a cheaper route. Was also tryin to find out if Camaro headers would fit,but don't know anyone with long tubes to try it out.

What size tubes are you looking for?

I talked with TOG about a set of 1 7/8" headers but, they didn't seem very interested. They were willing to make a set of stepped(1 3/4"-1 7/8") headers but, that is not what I was looking for so I didn't really follow up. I didn't want to keep bothering them about it.

If you want anything bigger than 1 3/4" your probably going to have to relocate the steering column. It makes for a tight fit on the drivers side. The passenger side should be no problem.

I decided to just use a set of AS&M's(also contacted with no return response ) with a bigger collector welded on for right now. I'm also going with a good size exhaust and may weld in some 3.5" cutouts after my emissions BS is taken care of.

I would go to a local race car builder and see who's a good custom header shop in the area. You may have to drop your truck off for a week or two but, that is probably what it's going to take for custom headers. I talked with one guy around here but, he wasn't interested so I gave up for now.

If you find somebody let me know. Maybe he can make up two sets. I'd be interested in some full 1 7/8" true longtubes with a 3.5" collector.

John

What type of truck do you have dude? Im putting a 99 LS-1 in my 98 1500 and headers have been my worst nightmare. We think we have found some though, from Street&Performance.
