Never heard of any issues with the k&n systems....your improvements are a result of the smooth elbow comming off the throttle body in the aftermarket systems......all of them will be close in terms of performance. Now i have had issues with K&n filters throwing codes due to the oil on their filters. What you really need to look for is that smooth elbow. if your looking for a new sytem Volant's have become increasingly popular.

^ What he said- I had a K&N and it was fine- just not my first choice, and that's what a lot of it will come down you, choice.
As for a tune, there are several sponsors on the site that can help with a quality mail order tune. I have a Wheatley tune and love the way my truck runs.

probably didn't run good due to a dirty MAF and the Hypertech PPIII....

Any name brand CAI, Volant, K&N, AEM should be fine.....and a Wheatley tune too.

Where are you located on LI?
