About Lobe Separation
#1
How does Lobe Separation affect performance??
For instance: How would the 02 LS6 Cam do in a 4.8, I've asked this before, but nobody I've talked to has had their pcm properly tuned . . .
204/212 .556 .562 | BUT: 117.5 LSA!
I am willing to tune the truck right, but would I be better off spending $300 MORE on say, a 212/218??
I don't know jack about cams . . . I understand Lift, and duration, but I don't know Lobe Separation whatsoever!!
Help me out here CAM-Gods.

I'm still new at this cam game but from what i understand the LSA (lobe seperation) effects where the powerband is. The lower the lsa the lower the powerband but at the price of idle quality. An LSA of 117.5 is probably not what you want for a truck because the power band will be very high.
Cams explained
I know its from a honda site but it is a well written article

When you are talking lobe seperation and its effects, what you are really talking about is the amount of overlap between the exhaust and intake lobes. When the opening and closing of the valves occur and their durations will dictate the potiential power for a given setup. The LSA is the result from choosing when and how long you want you want your valves open.
