Default 99 chevy silverado 5.3 cam

I am looking to put a cam into my truck, looking at lower end for faster accelleration, im not a big motor head so im not really sure excatly what im going to need to put in the cam. Wondering if someone could tell me everything i need or if there is a cam set i could buy, i do have a friend that works in a mechanic shop so hes going to help me, but im just wondering excatly what ill need for parts...

cam,springs,pushrods,oil n fliter,anitfreeze, water pump gaskets,timing cover gasket valve spring compressor, and something something that can force air in the spark plug whole to keep the value from falling, i think thats bout it ...help that helps

helps me more than i know lol i thought all i needed was a cam and thats about it but my friends been helping me figure stuff out and tell me what i need, im just trying to get a parts list/price im gunna need for all the parts thanks for the help. and the bully dot gt gas tuner sounds pretty good to me my friends got one for his duramax excetp diesel and he said it works really good.

also what type or size of cam should i get for faster acceleration? was looking at one that was .694 but wasnt 100% sure

go to tsp get the 220r or the 224r, but u need a 3000 stall or so to get max performance out of it....cam kit bout 6-700..plus all the lil oddn ends... so bout 1500-2000

but you have to have an tune to get everything out of the cam,or it pointless

forget the programmer... get a custom mail order tune by one of the sponsors or go get a dyno tune
