Default '98 454 EGR Bypass

I'm swapping a '98 454 into my '96 Sierra and want to put headers on before putting it in. BUT don't want to pay the outrageous amount for the ones with the EGR tube. If I use headers for an older truck, can I bypass the EGR and plug the intake port without any performance/efficiency/PCM issues?

Should be able to get it tuned out, but itll throw a check engine light.

Supposedly you'll loose some fuel mileage, but I don't know that youll be able to tell with a 454's usual thirst.

As long as it will run fine that's cool. I'm doing a few things that would offset the mileage loss
