Default 96-99 5.7 longtubes

I was woundering if the long tubes are that much better than the shorties? The only company that I know of that makes longtubes for our truck is hooker. Also how much of a differance is there in the 96-99 and the older body style headers? Because the older truck the headers are a lot cheaper. Just thought I would ask before spending 700 on a pair of headers. Also who has the best price on them. thanks and sorry for the long post

I am using the older 1988-1995 Hooker longtubes on my 1997. They dont have teh EGR fitting or the 2 O2 sensor fittings, the 1996-99 headers will.

You can add these things to older ehaders if you want.

hooker makes 3 Super Comp headers: stainless $530 2462-2HKR, ceramic coated steel $350 2462-1HKR, and painted steel 2462-HKR $180 , they are available at Summit racing.

They also make the Hooker supercomps that have 1 3/4 and 3" pipes, these are harder to install and are about $300 more than the Comps for about 5% better.

Longtubes will outperform shorties everytime, with shorties on the Vortec 350 is the carppy restrictive 1 7/8" headpipes(pipes from headers to cats) are used. The longtubes force you to use a larger pipe, I am using dual 2.5" with dual 2.5" cats.
