Default 86 Chevrolet Silverado Transmission took a ****!!..what to do now?

Ok..my Transmission crapped out on my 86 Chevrolet Silverado..It was going good. I went around a corner and all the sudden i heard it rev louder, pushed the gas down harder...and it wasn't moving just revving...all the gears are pretty much gone, If i rev it really high in the rpms i can get it to move a little bit forward and backwards but not much.

So..I was wandering wheres the best place to get a Rebuilt Transmission 700R4, cheapest also. Also wandering my dad said something about, if i get a Turbo400 Transmission, I don't got OD but its alot better transmission and its cheaper?...

What do you guys think I should do...any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

just rebuild what you have. work truck? sounds like it isn't getting any fluid. is it full? the filter may have fallen off or the o-ring on it may have failed. worse yet, the pump.

Upgrade to an '88 trans and have it built to lock up hydraulically. Use upgrade internals as well ie: sunshell, planetary sets, 3/4 clutch pack/s. Use either a raybestos z-pak or an alto 9 pack. An '88 will also have a 10 vane pump. It'll be well worth the "investment". A t-400 with "good" quality parts won't be much cheaper if at all. Yes it is stronger and will handle more abuse, but you lose overdrive and a LOT of your 1st gear ratio ( won't pull as hard from a stop). Not to mention having to modify your driveshaft and possibly your crossmember AND buying a new converter. I do recommend that you have your current converter freshened/ cleaned out though.
