well guys sorry about this post but i need help on this i got a 86 c20 3/4 ton truck with a 454 with 70,000 miles on it its my work truck it ran fine then just backfired and died out i started it back up and she backfired again and died now all it does is turns over what do you all think the problem could be <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> ill know what the deal is sundaynight <img border="0" alt="[bomb]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" />

 

Timing chain, maybe?

 

That's what I would say if fuel delivery and spark are ok. Timing chain. pop a valve cover off and turn it over too see if the rockers move.

 

leave the valve covers on. just check for spark or pull the cap off. no spark/rotor turning, broke cam or chain.

are you getting spark? if not, check the ignition module in the distributor or possibly the coil.

Doh! <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> Good point. Could just be a broken gear on the distributor.

 

well fixed it it was the ignition module i went ahead and did i full tune up on it it ran fine but now it has a miss to it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
