I've got 2x FM40's, single in single out coming to 5" tips. Kinda droney around 3K, but really quiet at idle cept for a gurgle. When you get a load on it, then it sounds niceee, not like a sports cars, but like a refined & stroked 454.

My 8.1 Silverado had Flowmaster 40 series with dumps when I purchased it. It was ridiculous and unbearable for anyone over 21 and within a week my exhaust shop set me up with Flowmaster 50's with tail pipes. It was bearable but still to much noise, especially at highway speeds. I couldn't get on it without pissing off everyone in sight. So after a year of that I had them install a Magnaflow dual in/out with X path. Now I'm happy. Nice low mellow big block idle, sounds powerful and right at wot and barely noticiable on the highway. Other people, even women who aren't into aftermarket mods, comment that our truck sounds good and you can tell it's powerful along with being comfortable to ride in. I haven't heard a 8.1 Corsa.

I dont' think headers are worth the dollars they cost. Unless, you are doing some serious mods like cam and porting the heads and all that stuff. The dyno runs that I have seen show about a 10 hp increase. 10 hp for 850 doesn't compute for me. I would be more apt to take the factory manifolds off and have them extrude honed, or hog them out myself before I would spend that kind of money.
Like my signature shows, I have Dynomax Super Turbos Part num 17770. These are 20 inch body and each one is 3 inch all the way through. These 8.1's on HD pickups all have dual 3 inch pipes to the stock muffler, so this is an easy mod. I put an H pipe between the pipes as far forward as possible. I then criss cross the tailpipes so that the passenger bank of cylinders exits out the drivers side and vice versa. Since both pipes run down the passenger frame rail, I trying to make each bank of cylinders to push through the same length of pipe. It makes them more balanced. Sort of like equal length headers.
I thought Magna Flow's web site had an Avalanche with an 8.1 that they recorded a launch. Maybe that was a different one. Magna Flow told me on their help line that their mufflers would drone to much at highway speeds and told me to try a different brand. The Dyno Max mufflers are nice and mellow. When you put echo tubes on them, they sound really deep the way a big block should sound.
