mine is 40 PSI at idle and about 60PSI cruising on the highway.

Yours sounds pretty low.

Minimum operating oil pressure for the GenIII motors is something rediculous like 5psi. So anything in the 30's at idle is good in my book. Just thought i'd throw that out there.

Yeah, I figured I was safe, but it did seem a little wierd seeing as how the truck only has 70K on the clock. I will try changing to 5 quarts of 10W 30 and a bottle of Lucas and see where that puts me.

Thanks for all the help...

Chris

Never came back to this thread, but just FYI.... I did change the filter out and put 10W 30 in the truck and the oil pressue is at 48 at col start and anywhere between 40 and 42 when at idle warm. I have seen as much as 80 PSI when at WOT. Thanks for the words fellas....

All of them I service run around 60 psi cold and around 40 or so hot and thats with 5W 30 in them. Doesn't sound like there's really anything wrong to me. It could be the gauge is off a little for that matter. With 10W 30 mine would run 60 cold and 20 hot at idle. Now I run Rotella T 15w 40 and its 70 cold and 35-40 hot at idle.

with 105K on the clock, mine sits about 70 at cold startups and 50 cruising warmed up... I run Syntec blend 10-30... my bike's oil galleries are so damn big that I run grade 70 oil and it still sees 10 psi at idle.... and thats even with a huge *** oil pump on it LOL...

I have an 02 5.3 with 118xxx on it and I never see less than 40 psi. Hot idle its at about 45, and just goes up from there.

I'm at 87k and I run 80psi cold startup & WOT, 60psi cruise, 45psi warm/hot idle thats with 5w-40 Mobil 1 & I also get the exact same readings with a proprietary 0w-40 from Mobil 1.

150k miles here. 50psi at idle, over 80 at WOT. I run German Castrol 0W-30 with an ACDelco or Wix PF61 filter from the Trailblazer that just so happens to fit perfectly and increase filter area. lol. That's the original pump btw...
