6.0l swap questions

Default 6.0l swap questions

What do I need to know about doing a swap into an 06 silverado 1500 as far as a vin and stuff goes or can I just buy any 6.0 engine and tranny combo and drop it in

Is that a good motor to build up for boost or is there another option

4.8 5.3 6.0 are all great engines for boost!!

They are the same dimensions outside, so they all interchange easy.

The only things needed for say going from a 4.8 to 6.0 will be tuning and possibly injectors unless you buy a complete 6.0 .


Very easy swap.

What would u do on a 5.3L in order to get it ready as far as a stroker of some sort heads and cam

it be cheaper to put an lq4 in there...you can get then for 2000 at a part store its a reman

LQ4 and LQ9 are both 6L engines the only difference is the LQ9 has flat top pistons and i believe better rods. Generally the dished pistons of the LQ4 is better for boost because of the lower compression

So will a 4.8 to 6.0 swap use the same wire harness and computers? So will u just need a motor with heads and intake, no accessories?
