wait wait wait, before pulling the entire motor, yank the head off that side of the motor. Remove the valves from that particular combustion chamber and put some valve seat dye onto the face of the valve and gently rotate the valve in its seat. Remove the valve after a full rotation and look at the dye on the seat of the valve. Make sure the dye is completely spread around evenly on the valve seats. If not, you got a bad head job from someone.

I think i saw what that dye your talking about around the valves when i picked them up it was pink or red? and it was all the way around. plus its doing the same thing before and after the valve job...

Your rings could be so trashed that the oil in the cylinder trick won't work. Swap the heads from side to side and see if the problem follows the head or stays with that side of the engine (pistons/rings). Sounds like you need a simple rering job. It sucks and is a big pain in the *** since you already finished the swap but this is just one of the reasons you never take someone's word on engine condition. Also, before long term storage you should fog the engine.

Don't worry, it will be worth it when you get the short block back to 100%.
