Default 6.0 Oil pressure, What the heck?

So, I make a 560 mile round trip out to Marble Falls area this past weekend for some shooting of the guns type relaxation and noticed my oil pressure wavering a little on the way up.. Nothing really bad but since my rebuild last year(with only 8000 miles or so) the oil pressure has been rock solid. Check the oil level, seems a bit low. Running Penzoil Ultra Platinum Plus 5w30 with Pure One filter. Topped off the oil and ended up with about a half qt to much. No tools on me out in the middle of nowhere, raining cats and turds mixed with a little bit of snow I decided to push on. Get to my destination and the truck sits until ready to come home Sunday afternoon. Half way home oil pressure is worse. 25psi at idle / 36 at 2500 rpm in the cruise but no sounds coming from valve train, no temp swings no knocking no nothing so I pressed on thinking I will be pulling this motor next weekend. Got home. Changed the oil and filter and everything lined out back to normal... What the heck just happened?

The sensor is less than a yr old. I relocated it to the driver side valve cover with a mechanical gauge which was right in line reading what the cluster gauge was reading at idle. Has me scratching ma *****....

Could have been a bad oil filter.

Any chance the electronic ignition switch under the column give me erroneous swings on one gauge and not the others? I figured if it was the switch it would be giving me other symptoms as well but all is good. But then again this would not affect my mechanical gauge.
