The heads have 317 stamped on them. The block has S13, GM-SMCO, H05, and G05 stamped on it.

Could someone please give me the specs on this engine?

Thanks,
Rob

Sorry to jump in like this but, I have the same question about infor on an engine. The engine is a 6.0, HEADS ARE CASTING NUMBER 317 - BLOCK IS CASTING NUMBER 12561364. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

You guys are cool on the heads. The 317's are the ones you want. Id compare block numbers with you but im nowhere near my motor. But a truck 6.0 block is a 6.0 block. What makes the difference is whats inside I.E. pistons and rods. You can yank the plugs, grab the crank pulley and spin it over till you can clearly spy a piston crown through a plug hole. A dished piston denotes an LQ4 and a flat top tells you its an LQ9.

Ok I found the numbers 12551364 on the block. It looks as if it has a light dish in the piston but very slight. Is the and LQ4?
