Default 6.0 Kill MPG?

Will a 6.0 swap massicure my fuel miliage, I have a 5.3 right now and im pretty impressed with the miliage I get(never figured it out but seems to be good) I do have 114K on my truck and for the price 6.0's seem to be cheap power. I was looking on the Chevrolet site and they claim 15/19 for the 5.3(1500 4x4) and 9/12 the 6.0(1500 HD 2x4 and 4x4) but then it also says 14/16 for the SS do these numbers seem acurate?

It all depends how you drive it. My parents LQ9 ESCALADE gets 16. I get 16-18 in my 5.3 2wd Sierra so I would say about 2 MPG less if you keep your foot out of it.

Depends a lot on the weight you're moving too. If you're moving a 6800 lb pig like mine and happen to have the mods in my sig you would likely see about 10 mpg on a day to day basis. Maybe 12 mpg on a flat highway cruise.

yea thats all true... Ill be keeping it low Ive got 285 75 16's on it and its a 4x4 ext cab with 3.73's I ditched the spare and dont plan on adding anything with anyweight (mabe a speaker box) im in FL so I dont have hills. I hate complaing about miliage but after everything I did to my other truck I cant afford to drive it to college in the fall but I miss a tons of power on a DD.(wish I could just afford to turbo it)

My Denali is getting around 14mpg, 90% city. If I drive some freeway, I'll see 16mpg. That's with all-wheel-drive and being a heavy pig (the truck, not me, I'm a measly 205).

Way back in '02 when I pulled the bone stock 5.3 and installed a bone stock 6 liter with no other changes I lost 3 MPG across the board. But the 40hp and 50 ft lb increase at the wheels made up for it... When I did the cam I lost about 2 more It takes fuel to make power.
