Default 6.0 Hybrid

Who has more info on these? We got one at work and I drove it today, quite odd the way the engine shuts off and comes back on. It's a 2011, I see the AC compressor is driven by the electric motor I guess. When you start it you can't even hear it crank over. I am not familiar with them and was curious how it Works.

They have been out for fleet use only since early 2004 when I started at the dealership (possibly a bit earlier). I had a buddy go to GM tech school on them and the trainer told him that if you could couple the engine and electric motor to the trans at the same time it would have near 700 rwhp. I think the electric motor is used to start turning the gas engine over before it fires off, if I remember right.

That sounds right because I can not hear a starter engage. Just wondering where the electric motor attaches to the driveline that allows the engine to drop off and come back online. I imagine the electric motor is always spinning its just a matter of whether or not its powering the truck or being back fed to charge the battery. I know they have been out for a bit just never got to drive one or look at one up close.

It almost appears a though it hydraulically couples the converter to the crank so it can drop the motor off line.

It's all internal to the "transmission" assembly.
