The LQ4/9 heads will dump compression way south of 9:1 on a 5.3, the cam is a decent cheap upgrade as it pulls to 6000 vs the stocker flattening out. The tune is for the LQ4/9, it won't be as good as a correct tune for your 5.3
'01+ LQ4 and 9s have the same heads, cam, internals minus the pistons. Both are quite potent in stock form. I don't see the ~½ point in compression making a huge difference in power in all honesty. The tuning really shuts them down stock.
The big difference in the LQ4 or 9 over the 4.8 (3.78x3.27) is both the bore and stroke, over the 5.3 (3.78x3.62) it's the bore. Stepping to a 4" bore from a 3.78" makes a BIG difference is the production of power throughout the power band.

A 5.3 with the right stuff can be a killer motor. More than good enough for mid 13s N/A.

on the right, a sponcer called Thunder Racing. They have good cams. Comp Cams have the Comp 918 springs. And the stock rockers are fine.
You can either buy a Magnaflow 3" in/out and dump it, or spend more on a lesser flowing Gibson catback for $289.
Hey, just looked and saw your New Hamp. Are you far from the Maine border?
