This motor has had a new cam installed but the motor itself hasn't been ran for 6 months. I would just like to know the best things to check and go over before initial start up? What's the best way to get oil pressure before actually turning over the motor? Also, i have new rear end installed, how much and what kind of fluid are you guys running in your rear ends?

a good faith practice is to also unplug the coil packs and spin the motor over a few times with the starter, this will start getting oil pumped through the system before the stress of combustion happens. Then plug the coil packs back in and it should fire right off.

Don't expect to see anything register on the gauge though. I've heard that you have to crank the engine for 30 or 45 seconds before the gauge starts to register. Just turn it over a few times as described above then fire her up and keep a close eye on the oil pressure gauge.
