The Caddy LQ9 has beefier rods and a bit better pistons than the LQ4 does.

i think it depends on how you are making the power. a turbo will go much farther on stock parts than a blower or nitrous.

my $.02 a bone stock 6.0 would hold 600+rwhp(turbo) for a long time with the proper tune. i think it would hold 700+rwhp for awhile. i got to 16psi and 630rwhp on the dyno but the load was not sufficient to keep the boost up top. i was probably closer to 14psi up top and that is when the 630rwhp was measured. i had pused it to 17psi quite a few times on the street and no boost fall off there. i wouldn't be suprised if i was seeing 700+rwhp at times.

i have a big cam, not sure how much that helped. i dont think the other parts i have were needed. there isn't a lot of strain on a rod bolt in a turbo motor and the factory head bolts are prety good.

I was thinking about getting one putting a big cam heads and nitrous. I would say close to 600 rwhp it would only see nitrous at the track. The **** load of tourque kind of worries me though Maybe I should change the rods and pistons?

i am no motor expert but i think nitrous is much harder on the parts. if you want 600rwhp out of a 6.0 with heads and cam i think some rods and pistons would be a good idea.

If your intent is to keep the motor together for a long time then I would do just that. I like to think that the forged pistons would allow you a degree of extra safety if you screw up while tuning your combo and going a lil too lean.

cheaper to do it right the first time I always say... This coming from the guy who always screws it up the first time, pays the price and does it right the second time

That being said I plan on doing pistons and rods/bolts on my next motor and I hope to keep it together for about 650rwhp or so.

I would just get rod bolts/pistons, it would be worth it for piece of mind. That way you can turn it up later if you want to, without having to tear it apart.
