hey im 16 and for my first car i have 1998 jimmy with a 4.3 neway my gramps said hell help me out i was thinkin i have 4000 right now plus my dad is in the recycling buisness and i can get a 6.0 cheap, i was thinkin of gettin a 6.0 and building it up head and such. after buying the motor ill probaly have around 2500-3500 to spend on the motor. What would be some good ideas for it? i know heads, cam, pistons and other stuff but could u guys give me a breakdown on the stuff including prices. And one last ques after the motor is all done its cheaper to buy a silverado or sierra with a 4.3 and ive seen more of them out there with a 4.3 what would i need to do the engine swap thanks in advanced

The easy way would be find an engine and transmission complete with the computer and harness.Make sure you get the accessary drive alternator,pulleys,brackets,p/s,everything.That will save you a lot of trouble.

Headers,a cam and a 125shot should be in your budget. That would make for one very fast high 12 or low 13 sec Jimmy,be careful or at least respectful with that much power as a new driver.
