Default 5000 miles, Oil Change # 4

Yep, 4th change

Going with Mobil1 5w30 ( had a coupon for 3.99 a qt from Pep Boys), AC Delco PF59 Filter, and a new Drain Plug gasket (free courtesy of the parts guy at local Dealership).
This last batch went quick, DIC showing 33% left on oil after only 2500 miles, wonder if I've been getting on it a little?

Congrats. I'm on a fresh batch of GC 0W-30 at about 29,500 miles.

I wonder if there is a way to scan and see the oil life left on the 02 and previous trucks.
The oil light is helpful for most people, but I'd like to see what percentage it's at.

I just rolled over 1,800 mi on my 05' VHO today. My DIC displays a 73% oil life left. At that rate my next oil change would not be until about 7,000 mi on the ODO. I don't think so.
I will be changing the oil right at or below 3,000 mi. The first oil change will be done earlier than the display center tells me the oil needs to be changed.

I used to use the DG Fram oil filters on my previous Silverado equipped with the 5.3L. I heard bad things about their filters and how the insides of them look. I will now be using AC Delco or better.
What is a better oil filter than AC Delco? Anyone? Price does not matter either.
I will be either going with Mobil 1 oil or whatever my dealer suggests to me.
The Full Synthetic will have to wait until the truck has over 10,000-15,000 mi on it. Until then, a standard type oil 10w-30 will do.

I believe K&N makes an oil filter for our trucks. It is $12 (I get the AC Delco's for free or if I have to, like $2 at Pepboys) I don't know how much better it is, does anyone know or has anyone used this filter?

Well I was paying right at $9.00 dollars for a DG Fram oil filter, so $12.00 for the K&N will be no big deal. I would just really like to know how Fram, AC Delco, and K&N stack up against each other.
Anyone?

Thanks,
Jim
