Default 5.7L or 6.0L ??

Well I'm planning on getting a better motor and trans combo in the truck in a couple of months and I'm not sure what to get. Would my truck be faster with a 5.7L ls1 or a 6.0L?? BTW: I will be swapping the sidemount blower to the new engine making about 7-8psi and also adding a nice blower cam for a little more kick. I also plan on getting a 4l80e and a larger trans cooler with a 2600-3000 stall as well. If I do the 5.7L I plan on finding a 4.8/5.3 block and having it bored to a 5.7L.....or I could got the 6.0 route.....the problem is finding them at a good price......and I can go pick up locally......any suggestions for finding a 5.7/6.0 motor and trans in the DFW area.......What do you guys recommend?

if you have the money just build a 408 motor, there being made cheap right now and you'll get alot more power!

More cubes and less boost will make more power than less cubes and the same pulley which builds more boost on the smaller engine. Get the 6.0L if there is similarities in price. An LS1 will weigh about 100lbs less though due to the aluminum block.

I would go with a 6.0L since your running FI. Iron blocks own and they have less compression (LQ4) than a LS1.

yeah for FI a stock LS1 would not be my first choice. Iron block truck engines are great for it however. Do the 6.0L or if you can, find a 350 block and get a stroker kit.

I'm with ssdan....go with the 408 and run 6psi, you'll make 600+hp and it's not really all that much more money. Stick with stock 6.0 heads and an LS6 cam and you could probably put the motor together for under $4k

The side mount would not flow enough to feed a 408.

fine then 383 stroker, you'll still get alot more power because the 6.0L is only a 364ci. the only thing you realy need to stroke it is a new crank.
