Default 5.3to LS1 swap in 06 Z71 Silverado?

I am putting a 418 in a buddy's 2001 Vette. His stock short only has 40,000 on it and I made 451/420rw as it sits. The current combo is a TSP 228 cam on a 112 and Old TSP 5.3l heads and all the bolt ons. I am thinking about putting his short in my truck with some AFR 205's I have. The truck makes 260/275rw right now. It would be nice to have the extra hundred rwhp and tq.

Are there any issues I would need to address while doing this swap? Is it a direct plug and play?

How does the stock truck manifold stack up against a ported 90/90 that was on there? I know FAST makes a truck manifold now and I don't have headers but I am looking to do this on the cheap.

Will the fuel pump keep up?
Will I have to upgrade the injectors?

If your truck is a flex fuel truck then both the fuel pump and injectors will work, if not you might upgrade to a walbro 255lp and for intake the truck intake will hold you back but unless you have some serious coin saved up then I would suggest using a tbss 90mm truck intake/fuel injectors and tb but you will need a wire harness so your pcm can talk to the tbss tb,
you should be able to get the tbss setup and harness "x-link" for around 450$ or cheaper, for exhaust use the pacesetter long tube headers and ory and texas speed has great deals on them fwiw

Pretty sure that you'll be fine with the stock fuel pump, but you'll definitely want some bigger injectors with that cam and head combo...some marine 42# 8.1 injectors should work. The truck intake will "work" but will hold that combo back above 5500 rpms I believe. The FAST truck intake is real nice but real expensive, as Derek mentioned, the TBSS intake has shown itself to be a good performer for a lot less than the FAST.

Cool. Great info guys. I will look into the TBSS stuff. Another guy sent me a link to some SS OBX headers that look like a nice package. They were pretty cheap as well. I was making the power in the Vette on the stock injectors and was just going to use those since I have them. I take it that the TBSS intake is more like an LS1/6 type set up that a truck manifold? I have the hook up at the local dealership so I will give them a call.

Derek. Love the Pontiac stuff. I have a 69 GTO that my mom bought new that I want to rebuild with my girls. Glad to see some one else it doing it. Do you know of any good web sites for the older GTO stuff?
