Default 5.3L L33 motor Piston question

Hey Guys,

Redoing a L33 motor. So for had block cleaned and honed. Did not need to be bored out. Going to re ring it and all new bearings. But problem is had a massive brain far when cleaning pistons. Marked them all but when cleaning the markings obviously are now gone. Will it matter if they end up in different cylinders.

To me, no.

Because you have already cleaned everything and you are running new bearings and new piston rings.

Perfect, can save some money there. Wasn't completely sure though. Now I just need to figure out a good mild upgrade cam for my customer build. Time to get searching.

Thx again for posting FFDP

Back in 1971 I pulled and disassembled 2, 389 Pontiac engines GTO and Bonneville. Used the best parts from both and reassembled to put in my 64 GTO. Ran great with no issues. Ahhh the memories.

If you're kinda picky you can shove each piston in random bores along with a long feeler gauge, then juggle them around matching piston to bore sizes. Did you remove the pistons from the rods... are the rods stamped on the big end 1 - 8 ?

I was 14 in 1971 working on motorcycles, mini bikes and go carts.
My first car engine build was a 390CID from a 1969 AMX in 1976 (my first hotrod)

Yes i left rods attached as play at the pin was good. I never noticed any markings i will have to take a look tonight and see. If I was smart i should have just punched the rods

Can't remember if my rods were stamped or not been over a year or so. Cleaned mine one at a time with degreaser along with a pressure washer and re-marked as needed so I'm guessing mine weren't stamped either. A few of my wristpins felt gummed up so I disassembled to clean the pins and pin bores.

EDIT: I see the number 4 marked on the rod beam with a sharpie so mine were not stamped.
