Default 5.3 power

Im looking to do some upgrading to the 5.3 in my truck and was wondering what combos of bolt ons some other people were running. Id like as much power as possible and MPGs dont hurt either. Im going with a small lift and a little larger tire and want to still have some get up and go. Id even go as far as a cam if it didnt require a whole lot of reprogramming. Nothing too wild though. Any input is much appreciated.

Yeah, a cam will definitely require retuning. Frankly, any performance mods need to be retuned to take full advantage of the potential power. The usually initial mod route is a cold air intake, headers, Y pipe, and tune. That should gain you about 40 hp (plus or minus). Since you have an older truck, then add electric fans to the mix. In fact, that probably should be your first mod.
