Default 5.3 which cam for a dd using a TB stall, keeping ability to tow?

I've been reading and gaining mixed thoughts on this.

I'm looking for the best cam running a TB stall, that still allows me to tow my boat. Boat is ~6500LB. And the truck usually only tows in summer. But it is about every day in the summer so I'd like to keep my towing ability.

Current mods are-
Calspeed long tubes
CAI
4.88's - truck has a lift and 35's
TB stall
Blackbear tune
Corvette servo and transgo shift kit
Tru cool 40k

I want something that is going to give me some extra pep in power and torque. And have a nice sound to it as well.

What are your thoughts?

Your biggest key will be retaining enough vacuum to tow. I would suggest to good old 212/218 to be honest.

Yep, the Comp 212/218, Vinci 210/218, SDPC 214/218, or hit up Stock48 for a nice little Isky grind.

What's the difference in a 212/218 vs a 216/220?

I agree. 212/218 should suit you well.

I want something that is going to be worth my time and money also.
I don't know much about this cam stuff, so bear with me, I'm learning as we go.

So what's the biggest cam I can get away with, even if the towing ability suffers a tad. Lol

I want something with some Torque, not looking for a crazy amount of top end.

Something that will get me up and rolling from a stop. But at the same time give me some abilities on the highway.

And of course it needs to sound nasty. Haha

Sound is mostly in the tune so don't worry about that. I made a stock cam 4.8 sound like a dang big block jet boat the other day. I think you have your answer on the Cam. 212/218 hi lift. The difference between 212/218 and 216/220 is a little more duration which will give you a little bit more top end while moving the powerband up just slightly. You can pick basically whatever cam you want, but most people will reccomend and several people already have that you get a cam with intake duration between 212 and 216 and exhaust duration between 216 and 220. We are talking about a difference in 5hp between the different cams and 1-200rpm range for powerband.

Get yourself a custom grind... using the high lift XE lobes.

Something like this:

214/218 .559/.563 @ 1.7 rr 110 LSA 110 ICL

You will have the low end you need and still get the sound of a larger cam. Yes the throttle response will be a bit less of the stop due to the overlap but it will not be all that bad.

Should lope about like a TSP 220 on a 112 LSA and have a dynamic compression of 7.75:1, plenty safe running 93 even when towing heavy loads.

None of the cam's mentioned above will sound very aggressive, unless your running close to a open exhaust you will not really here them.

Have you heard what happens when the idle speed is reduced and timing is pulled? Any cam will sound mean with the right tuning.
