5.3 to a 383 stroker????

Looks good, think i wont be doing anything for a long while, this rebuild just keeps getting more expensive. Anybody done this???

293 3.780" 3.27" ('99-later "LR4" 4.8 Liter Vortec)

.120" over is a HUGE overbore on a stock block. You block will be FAR weaker bored that far over. Why not just source out a 6.0 core or LS1?

how much weaker? that is the max i have heard for it but i doubt they would do it if it seriously weakend the block.

They dong bore a 6.0 to a 408. They stroke these motors to those sizes. Yes you can bore a 5.3 to a 5.7 spec block but to get any more cubes you will need to stroke it.

There are a few fbodys that have done this with a 5.3 block already. Do a serach in the internal section

Did a search for 5.3 stroked and found nothing so I am going to put a post up in the internals section to see if anyone has done it.

if the block can handle the .120 over bore that your talking about, then all the 4.8/5.3 guys can have a nice motor using their stock block, but once the motor lets go, the block will probably have to be thrown away, unless these blocks can really be bored out a ridiculous amount. . .
