Default 4x4 4L80e swap 2007c Vmax

I have a 2007 classic Z71 Silverado Vortec Max. Its got the LQ9 6.0, 14 bolt rear with 4.10s, and a 4L70e. I'm interested in a 4L80e swap and I'm curious what the ins and outs are, especially as far as the transfer case is concerned cause I have a push button 4x4 in my truck. Anyone know the deal or can lead me to a thread? I'm sure theres a few already out there. Thanks

Try these stickies. I just did the swap myself. Not too hard.

1500hd trucks and light duty 2500's came with 246 autotrack transfer cases so you can swap the input gear or the whole case. Basically if you add an 80e you have a slightly lighter 1500HD without the heavy duty front suspension and front diff. My 05 1500 HD needs headers and to lose the stock cats but after daily driving trucks that actually are quick it's such a slug... even being tuned, e fans intake and exhaust. The stock 80e convertor is such a piece of garbage... With its lack of first gear and more parasitic loss if you think your truck is quick now which by the sounds of other posts you do... you won't lol. A good convertor helps a lot though.

On the flip side, if you make enough power the 80e actually helps due to the decreased rpm drop between gears. I ran faster times on my 80e with all else the same.

Under 500 rwhp or maybe even higher the 60 will be faster.

yeah i beefed up the front end some when i first bought the truck, i got aftermarket cognito UCA's, moog LCA's, and moog everything else (inner & outer tie rods, sway bar links, idler arm, pitman arm). definitely is 100 times better. i got longtubes and high flow cats as well. my custom tune definitely woke this thing up for sure. but yeah i definitely will have a higher converter when i do the 80e swap, i know they're pretty sluggish from a dig. the reason why i'm going to do the 80e is i'm going to eventually slap a TVS1900 on this thing, the 80e should hold it

Yes it should. No doubt you are too far or I would peddle you one of mine. I had 3 new 4L80E GM remans. Sold one yesterday and hopefully another in the next day or so. I will keep one.. might need it some day lol. But 3... forget it lol.
