Default 4L80E How much before boom

I was wondering if anyone had a power level this tranny can handle before having to beef the internals up.

i saw a Tci 4l80e put behind a zzchevy 572 on a tv show, and i don't think they were going to break, theses things are strong in stock form, but i bet if you had one built it would be indestructible.

I wouldn't buy a complete trans from the link above. THey are a local shop, and I've herd some bad things. Maybe some of the Shreveport guys can come in here and give an opinion too.

A stock one can take a pretty good beating before it will give though. Hat do you have in mind??

Anybody that tells you a 4L60E will handle 900lb/ft of torque in a truck is lying to you.A fully prepped 4L60E will live with 450-500lb/ft of torque in a 3400lb car,but not in a truck. The combination of weight and torque, just seems to break things.A stock 4L80E can easily handle as much torque that fully prepped 4L60E and fully prepped 4L80E might handle 750-800lb/ft of torque.I don't think most of us have anything to worry about[as far as torque capacity]running a 4L80E.
