408 stroker HELP
#1
hi guys building a 408 stroker. Im confused about compression. Using 243 heads and a weisco carrillo stroker kit. If im driving this on the street, They say i have to keep it down to 10.5 to 1. I dont understand why not 11 to 1. something about the octane. Thanks for any help

I was talking to some engine builders last week, and the consensus was that the GM GenIII engines can squeak out a little more compression on the street. You have to look at the camshaft profile also, as a cam with more overlap will have a natural EGR effect and therefore have lower cylinder temps, and also allow for (and sometimes require) more compression.

I was talking to some engine builders last week, and the consensus was that reverse flow engines (such as the GM GenIII) can squeak out a little more compression on the street. I was given mis-information...just did some searching and found out that coolant goes through the block then up to the heads...it is a conventional cooling system. Sorry about that....gonna go modify my posts...
