Default 408 or 427???

ok so my 5.3 is about to hit the dust and ive started at a good job. i dont know what i want to build. Eather a 408 stroker or the LS7... any ideas on which is a better build for a rcsb? it will just end up beeing a weekend street truck

there is no replacement for displacement.

if you can afford the 427 then no doubt go that route.

well ive been lookn at the prices and the 427 is gunna run like1-2K more but it will b a solid block and not 1 that has been to a machine shop so i duno

I would totally build a 427 L92 stroker, great bang for the buck! Here is a dyno of 415cu in with stock L92 heads! Look at the Tq curve and tell me this baby wouldn't be fun, 450 ft lbs to the tires @ 3,200 rpm ...imagine CNC heads and a COMP VVT CAM on top of that!

I've yet to hear of many stroker motors lasting 100,000 miles. I have had several members tell me that they wish they would have just stuck with stock GM engines.

If I was going to do a stroker, it would utilize the LS7 block as it was designed from GM to handle a 4" stroke.
