my 4.8 has an exhaust and its idleing at like 500rpms is this normal?

500 to 550 sounds normal.

Mine does, I asked my GM service guy that same question when I bought mine new and he said they are supposed to idle that low. Freaky huh?

the lower it idles the better, just as long as the motor doesn't have a problem keeping a smooth idle it's fine

Mine has always idled around 400-450 with no problem.

500-650 is just fine!....as long as its a steady idle

ok awsome it, i just wasnt sure cuz my older truck would idle aroun 700, so cool save me some gas.
