Default 4.3 Liter exhaust

I just picked up an 06 1500 with a 4.3(yeah, I know). I got it because I already have a V8 in the stable and wanted the highway mileage of the 6, which by the way is very impressive. I was curious as to which muffler/exhaust would sound good from a V6. Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Gibson, etc......just unsure at this point. I mainly want a good tone. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

I had a dumped magnaflow on mine that I used to have.... very deep and mellow... get a round case and dump it. You wont be disappointed.

i had a 04 v6 4.3, and i had a k&n drop in filter, and a flowmaster 40 with a turndown, just cut the exhaust in the stock location and welded the muffler and turndown up, it had a very deep tone, i felt at WOT sometimes it sounded like a diesel truck, lol, but it was deep! and had a very nice idle, i got many compliments

I ran edelbrock headers, no cat, 2.75" pipe, and a mac muffler on mine. great performance compared to stock and sounded mean as hell. loud though.

I've never experienced much better mpg with the 4.3 than the LSx series of engines. What kind of highway mileage do you get?

well, mileage is just over the "break-in-period" so I have not gotten a chance to check it since. I am planning on running some highway miles the next weekend or two, so ill have to get back to you. I am anticipating 22-24, interstate going 70 with cruise. I've heard the newer 4.8, and 5.3 get close to that on the highway.

I had a Flowmaster 40 series with JBA shorty headers on my ZR2. When idling or at low RPMs it sounded great; at WOT though, it sounded kinda 'tinny' to me.

If you've already got the V8, put that in there, get the same mileage and get more power. Then spend your money on that.
