Default 383 stroker?????

I'm pretty sure I can do this to my stock 4.8 block, can someone point me in the right direction of a good kit so I can get an idea of how much it would cost. Obviously I would need new heads, but what else would I need that isn't included in most stroker kits??

Just look at the sponsors to the right. But keep in mind that you will have to bore out the 4.8/5.3 to do it. Probably be just as cheap to buy a LS1 block than reworking a 4.8/5.3 block. Lighter to.

yeaah i've got a 383 ls1 stroker that is going in mine soon. You will need 30lb injectors, camshaft, decent stage I heads at least, tranny(maybe 2 if your going to run a 60e), 3k stall converter at least, traction, traction, traction. You are not moving unless you can hook up! I still am unsure on which cam i am going to go with for my setup? i'm thinking maybe a 231/237 or a 236/236, those will be real mild and meant more for torque, which i will need more of since i have a truck and not a f-body.

Look at my signature for the possibility. Yes it does work, just don't use the cam I did. Tsogg has some good cam suggestions, duration in the .230 range is the ticket with the bigger cylinders to fill em up.
Also get some good recommendations for a machine shop. If they are not familiar with the GenIII engines keep shopping around. I have even seen some already bored blocks on eBay too.
Good luck, let us know how it works out!

Yeah i was hoping you would chime in. Let me tell you i just about cried when you posted your dyno numbers, i really hope it was the cam that was holding you back. i bought my motor slightly used and the guy said he made 422 hp and 421 torque with an unlocked a4 with a 228/228 .578/.578 cam. I hope you can get that when you get yours running right!!!

Yep, with the right cam and tuning it should be no problem to see 400+ at the wheels. I was hoping that the smog police and the 60E tranny would like the Z06 cam better but it just does not feed enough fuel into the engine. But again, my tuning skills are also to blame....
In fact, I am giving up on self tuning and gonna go with Allen soon. Selling the HPT, not because it is bad but because I AM bad. Also gonna be traveling with work for the next 3 months and can't help my bro out.

why don't you just keep the hpt and have someone who knows what they are doing tune it, that will give a great start and if it every needs to be changed or you simply just want to change your shift points or something you will have it handy> just a thought

Thought seriously about it but in the end I need a piggyback unit for the Dodge.
BTW, just got done tuning it before shipping out the HPT and it is running tons better. Butt dyno says 30 HP at least, especially on top. Leaned everything and fine tuned some RPM ranges with the advice of others.
Gonna miss the support big time but trust in Allen's rep.

another vote for the 6.0 block or whole motor price would be about he same and the results would obviously be better with a stroked 6.0 than a stroked 4.8
